Woman and Children Face Risks From ACA Repeal

As the new Congress deliberates repeal of the Affordable Care Act, there is much at stake for women and children. For them, the health care law is more than just a controversial piece of legislation, and the fight to protect its gains is far from political. It is an issue of essential health equity for women and children.
Because of the Affordable Care Act, women are protected from paying higher premiums based on gender alone. Neither women nor children can be denied coverage due to pre-existing conditions, including if they have ever had breast cancer, had a cesarean section or suffer from common childhood conditions like asthma.
